Who were the two people that helped South America gain their independence and who did they gain their independence from?
The two people that helped South America gain their independence were Simon Bolivar and Jose de San Martin. They gained their independence from Spain.

Describe who the creoles are.
The creoles were the people who were born in Latin America but had European blood. They were below the Peninsulares but above the Mulattos, Mestizos and Native Americans and people of African descent in the social class system of Latin America.

What were some flaws in the Latin American social structure?

The strict social structure kept people in the same class from birth. Only the peninsulares could participate in government, so that limited most of the population from being active in it. Most people with native American or African blood were looked down on by the people of European descent therefore turned into slaves or cheap, harsh laborers.

answer to Mackenzie's:The Creoles are the second highest class of people of European decent but the highest position that anyone who was born in the colonies could have. Both of their parents were born in Europe but they were born in the colonies.

Answer to jewels: one of the flaws to the social class system is there are so many more of the lower class people because the areas are so broad that they can out number the upper class and take over.

What were some flaws in the Latin American social structure?

First, being a European formed and minded system the Europeans held too much power. Whether it was their higher social status or economic disposition they always had the idea that they were superior to natives which was definitely not the case. Also, they didn't reason and weigh it correctly demographicly. The lowest class being the natives was also the most populous. This injustice would not be overlooked by the stubbornly prestigous natives who led the Americas to revolt.

What was remarkable about Toussaint Louverture?

The haitian sensation was remarkable for two reasons. First, he was a slave who was literate and a slave. This is remarkable because as a slave he didn't have access to much, especially books. Another remarkable feature was the fact that he could lead the first successful slave revolt. The affect this one man had on Latin America had a very big effect on the region as a whole.

What was the cause for rebellion in Latin America? Give one example and compare it to other revolutions.

Answer to Jacob's Question^^^: One cause of the rebellion in Latin America is the idea of Enlightenment which encourages people to question ideas and systems. Different people in Latin America, especially the middle class, started questioning their systems such as their social structure and then found reasoning to rebel against what they thought was unfair. This happens in Europe as well with Enlightenment encouraging people to question things which leads to rebellion against authority.

Answer to Rietta's Question (who were the two people that helped south America gain their independence and who did they gain their independence from?): The two people were Jose de San Martin and Simon Bolivar and they helped gain independence from the Spanish.

Question: What is similar with Toussaint Louverture and Miguel Hidalgo in which the way they spread their ideas of rebellion? (Think social class/ occupation.)
